Mochica Language Teacher Training Programme in Lambayeque

Apeñ Muchik is an educational and community-based initiative for the recovery and teaching of the Mochica language in the Lambayeque region of northern Peru. In collaboration with the Gerencia Regional de Educación de Lambayeque (GRED Lambayeque), the project develops and delivers training workshops for teachers, providing linguistic knowledge, pedagogical resources, and teaching materials for the incorporation of Mochica language and cultural heritage into educational contexts.

The programme connects academic research on historical Mochica sources with teacher education and locally implemented educational practices. Through the development of teaching materials and direct collaboration with educators, it seeks to facilitate the transmission of historically grounded knowledge of the Mochica language and to strengthen its presence in schools and other educational spaces in Lambayeque.
