Relational Ethics and Affective/Lived Security: Care, Resilience and Embodiment in Times of Crisis

How can we protect and care for people in crises without undermining their dignity? This project explores how communities care for one another and organise security when formal systems are under strain. It combines security in organisation studies, ethics of care, and arts-based research, and views security as shaped by people's emotions, relationships, and lived experience. Based on observations of artist-led initiatives and interviews with emergency, humanitarian, and civic actors in Ukraine, the project shows how care and security intertwine in daily practices, leadership, and recovery. The findings will support hospital leaders, evacuation planning, and humanitarian and civil society organisations, and contribute to more humane and ethical crisis governance for inclusive and resilient societies.
